Lucca is a rich and still very medieval town in Tuscany not far from Pisa, still surrounded by 4km of city walls, the birthplace of Puccini, ruled by the rich Guinigi family that owned the famous tower with the trees on the top, beloved by Napoleon who gave the city to his sister that ruled from 1805 till 1814.
Lucca made its fortune thanks to the silk industry during the middle ages. In the afternoon we will move on towards Pisa where we will visit the Field of Miracles with the famous leaning tower, the cathedral, the baptistry and the monumental cemetery. After free time we will drive back to Livorno to go back on the cruise.
