Lucca is a rich and still very medieval looking city in Tuscany, not far from Pisa, surrounded by 4km of still intact walls, birthplace of Puccini, ruled by the powerful Guinigi family whose tower is still named after it, recognizable by the trees on the top, beloved by Napoleon the city was given to his sister who ruled it from 1805 to 1814.

Lucca made its fortune thanks to the silk industry during the middle ages. In the afternoon we will move on towards Pisa where we will visit the Field of Miracles with the famous leaning tower, the cathedral, the baptistry and the monumental cemetery. After free time we will drive back to Livorno to go back on the cruise.
